Extremely Confusing

I’ve attempted this multiple times using different types of yarn and I haven’t figured out the pattern for the body. Maybe I’m just dumb but I feel like I’ve interpreted it in every possible way.

Cute!

This is Intermediate and my first real project so I did have to watch several internet videos. These instructions are harder than they need to be. Once I got it figured out, he turned out really cute. I did waste a bunch of yarn restarting multiple times.
