Middle Gun
This is an old kit relaunched for the movie. The instructions don’t match the pieces in some steps, fit is not great, but for the money it’s a decent f14 kit in 1/48.
Good price, nice kit, looks great on the shelf.
The kit's assembly was not that challenging, other than the wing taking a while to put in as it kept falling out. The painting process took a while, but it was definitely worth it. I would strongly recommend you to get some masking tape 3mm, it helps.
F-14A Tomcat
This kit was first released in 1980 and represents an early Tomcat so I threw out the kit decals and used a set that I had on hand for VF-112 Aardvarks. I used a resin cockpit that was made in the 90's for this kit. Still a good kit for the money.
Painting Question
Great kit, assembled landing gear up which was challenging, ready to paint but I’m confused on which color to paint the main fuselage…….flat bronze green??? Can’t find it anywhere.
Beautiful kit just like the one I did years ago
Nice kit for the money I just got it because I love the top gun movie and I have not seen the new movie so I’m going to watch it in the next day or to just needed this jet in my living room hanging up fun build for the money worth every penny guys
a bit disappointed
hobby lobby's price was great before the increase, but this kit had fit problems in some parts, leaving unsightly gaps, unless you like to fill and sand and paint, looks elsewhere, also you have to build landing gears, there's no in-flight pose option.
Wrong painting instructions in the box!
Go online to get the correct colors from other issues of the model. L should be 57 grey Matt not 75; O should be 65 not 76; P should be 76 flat lt grey not 65 bronze green!; Q should be 75 not 57. Feel bad for a kid trying to figure this out.
Decent budget kit
Assembly was straightforward considering its age (80s?) however some minor parts were omitted and so the decals. Overall the outcome is still good looking F14.
