Horrible kit - Beginners, run away from this kit!!
Typical Revell/Monogram rebox. The mold is from 1963 and it shows. Raised panel line, poor detail, thick decals and the fit is extremely terrible. The many hours it takes to make this kit look marginal could be avoided by just buying a better kit…
bad design
Either bad design or bad mold. The instructions Give bad directions for assembly . extra parts not needed on the sprue. Amount of corrections needed for assembly make it a difficult build buy a different brand.
bad fit
The kit feature operational landing gear, folding wings, and a turning prop. The turning prop is normal, but the landing gear is of horrible construction and the folding wings feature the worst fit I have ever seen on a model kit. I do not recommend this.
The truth about Revell and other low priced kits
If you don't have a lot of money these kits are the ones to go for. You will have to earn what you saved, they all have flaws. Put a lot of extra work into them and you can have a very nice model. These kits are great for beginners.
Corsair F4u4
Just reading some of the reviews and about the kits about the Monogram airplanes , well the molds about 55 to 60 years old + 1962 and even 1959 .think about that. from a model builder who knows… have a great day.. Eric
Good value if you slow down…
An old mold - you really have to SLOW DOWN and take time to build this kit. Not hard if you pre-fit the parts prior to applying the cement to ensure a smooth fit. Decide early to go gear/wings up or down/folded and build to that end-state + it will be OK!
It a fine kit.
It’s a fine kit considering it’s age. I built this kit several years ago, and I just took my time on the wings and landing gear.
GET A LINDBERG KIT INSTEAD!!!
As said, old mold used. Lindberg has the same kit, same parts, but they have mastered their molds. Smooth, much better fitting, clean parts. Built both myself, revell only has better decal scheme. Even has wing sonar in both kits. Go lindberg for sure!!!!
good beginer model kit
it was a fun little model kit. i got it when i first started building .it was a very good beginer model kit
Fun kit to build
This is a fun and fairly simple kit to build. I enjoyed building this model kit.
