Not enough directions
I tried to use this on Styrofoam and all it did was soak through. There was no warning on the bottle. Should have directions as to what you can and can't use this product on.
Works If You follow Directions
If you want to use this realistic water on styrofoam then you must seal the styrofoam first with Mag Kote by DecoArt. Then use realistic water. Check on YouTube for more information or check manufacturer website.
Where are the warnings
I tried it on insulation foam making rivers and it just soaked through
Just soaks through
I poured it into a spot specifically for it on a model base that already had textured paint on it. And within a couple hours it was all gone.
seal before use
It is a resin like most paints it will melt styrene foam you should seal with a good coat of paint before pouring to seal pond, stream area
Awesome product!
After preparing your base, and pouring in 1/8" at a time to fill your lake or pond, this works great. You can mix in alcohol inks to color it which will give you more of a stream or pond look. Instructions are lacking.
Vietnam junk
I highly recommend buying the epoxy mix resin. Same price by quantity. This no mix junk shrinks and cracks and a pain to remove. I bought the mixing resin and followed mixing instruction, it 1000 times better than this Realistic garbage.
Shrank and cracked
I filled a ceramic "black lagoon" part of a Halloween village display with this product last year. It shrank significantly and had several large cracks in it. Will not buy again.
Shrinks, soaks or evaporates.
I did a 1/8" pour on pink insulation foam riverbed that was covered in plaster cloth, wood filler and several coats of paint. It just left a shiny film over the surface -- no depth. You could get the same effect with gloss Mod Podge. Not recommended.
Works fine if used properly
Used for my model RR lake. Total depth for me was almost an inch but I did multiple pours of about 1/8 to 1/4 inches letting it harden between. I tinted with acrylic paint but stirring caused some air bubbles. Last pour clear/unstirred hides bubbles.
