Great starter mold
I've made candles for years and im branching into soap now its the perfect starter mold for soap i think its easy to use. my only issues is if i have to move it around it instantly screws up the top because its such a thin silicone.
Good but…
This is a good mold in that it releases the finished product easily but it bows outward as you pour the soap into it, leaving the shape to have convex sides as opposed to straight sides. I have used books or anything with a solid straight edge to fix.
Loved It!
It worked great for my melt and pour soap.
Question
I bought this mold and was making my first batch of soap. When I did, there wasnt enough batter. I'm just wondering how many lbs this is suppose to hold? Pretty sure it's two but I just wanted to be sure.
Mold capacity
Actually it produces 2-2.5 pounds of soap. I just compared with plastic glass mold I have. It’s tiny bit bigger and says “produces 2 to 3 pounds of soap”. Here we go.
Capacity of the loaf
I just made a full loaf of soap. Weighted the soap before cutting. It took 1190gr or clear glycerin melt and pour. Came out great. Easy to work with. I used a plastic mold for soaps to keep silicon shaped.
Volume of this loaf
I believe it should be around 83oz. But if you are making soap - i would have extra. Just to make sure you are covered. I used conversion app.
Love it
I found that if you set the silicone mold into another loaf pan, metal or aluminum, preferably metal, it holds well and won't bulk out.
Not Sturdy
I bought this from the store but it's not sturdy. Before I used it, it already sat awkwardly. One side wouldn't stand properly. Add batter to it and it boughs out on the sides. Make an awkward shaped soap loaf.
Save Your Money
This really is not a soap mold…it is a loaf mold. Silicone is inferior and cannot hold shape. The curved corners leave the ends of the soap awkward…and if you trim them both off you are left with a measly 8 bar loaf. (1" bars) Bad Purchase.
